When I decided to do some grocery shopping by bike these looked like they would do the job but little did I know how much better they were than the description. Axiom needs to market these better because these are really undervalued on Amazon. The rack I use is an inexpensive[ASIN:B00165PA08 Avenir Rear Road Bike Rack (Black, 700c)] from Amazon. Installing is a 1, 2, and 3. 1. Hold the bag by the handle next to the wheel and rack and connect the hook (dangling on the bottom of the bungee cord) to the little metal v by the wheel hub of the rack. 2. Lift up on the handle and pull the bag toward the rack the 2 clips will engage on the top tube of the rack. 3. Flip the little locking device over and you are ready to ride. One other really nice feature is the top of the rack is still available for some type of trunk mount container.
First you get two bags not the one in the picture. Both are triple A quality and workmanship. Inside the flip top a draw string enables you to snug up the contents to keep whatever out and whatever in clean. In case it rains, you get two bright yellow waterproof covers with reflective logo's that fit snugly. Both bags have this reflective logo that is so bright you can't take a picture without turning the flash off.
So what can you bring home from the grocery store? How about a watermelon on one side and two giant bags of potato chips on the other? Bikers need those carbs and fluids, right? Seriously, I loaded up one of those supermarket hand carry baskets and everything from the basket fit into the panniers with a little room. However you also have the outside zipper pockets and the top bungee cords for hold downs so if you're repairing your deck I guess you could stop at the lumber yard for a 2x6.

I went car-free this past summer, and had been using a backpack to lug all my pumps and tools and spare clothes and books and camera around with me. For daily use, I now affix one of my lasalles and am good to go. It holds everything I need it to, seems very unlikely to fly off my bike (impossible with the securi-clip engaged), and my bike handles 100% smoother with the weight held so much lower. It is drizzle proof even without its rain cover, and by using both i'll have way more than enough room for all my bikepacking/camping gear. I'm very happy with my purchase.

The panniers work really well and are designed very well. They panniers are two units and can be used together or separately. Easy to take on and off. Comes with a rain cover for each. Although there are clips to attach a shoulder strap for carrying off the bike, they did not come with the strap. Big enough for plenty of gear, food, and clothing. Also can load in a large laptop. Top quality.
