By Oak Lea
I purchased this rack about 4 months ago. It arrived earlier than expected and it good condition. All of the parts necessary for installation were included. There were also a couple of extra screws as spares.
I installed it on a TREK 4300. While I don't have disk brakes on the bike, it does have the brackets pre-installed to accept them, so I decided to get the DX type rack so that I could install the discs later.
The installation took less than 10 minutes and went flawlessly. The rack has a nice semi-gloss black finish but the brackets that attach it to the seat tube are silver, so I decided to paint them black as well using a satin black epoxy spray paint that matched perfectly.
The rack is very light weight but is also very sturdy. I haven't gotten a bag for it yet, but Topeak makes bags that will slide into the rack and then lock into place.
I would highly recommend this rack to anyone that has a frame predrilled to accept this sort of accessory.

By D. Kim
I've had this rack for about a couple of months now. It's been a pretty happy experience so far. The rack I received was a bit off center, but nothing a bit of tweaking couldn't fix. After about a hundred or so miles, the black finish has rubbed off in a few locations due to some metal hardware on my bag. If plastic were to rub on the finish, I'm sure the same would happen but over a longer period of time. I hear this is the norm for Topeak racks. But seriously, who cares... I haven't loaded the rack down with panniers, but I do appreciate that there is a separate bar just for them. Some rack trunks can get pretty wide and cover up the top bars.
The rack came with two plastic rear light holders. One is designed to accept lights that use clips. The other a fairly wide bracket that I'm assuming is designed to hold a euro style light. I used the clip mount for a twenty five mile ride, but it just made me nervous. So, I picked up a stainless bolt about two inches long, a couple of nylon spacers that were about 3/4" in diameter, a small washer, and a nylock nut. I screwed this into the rear light mount of the rack so that the bolt was parallel to the ground. The nylon spacers made a nice and neat post for the chainstay clamp that came with my light to wrap around. Now my light is not going anywhere! Thank you big orange box store. Go to the hardware section where all the sliding drawers are full of nuts and bolts.
I fit this rack on my 2008 Gary Fisher Wahoo Disc with a Sunlite Seat Post Clamp with Braze Ons. Some install tips. Be sure to use a bubble level when installing the rack. I didn't pre-bend the chain stay arms. I bolted them loosely to the rack, but tight to the frame. I then slowly snugged up the bars to the rack and got a nice smooth bend. Be sure to keep an eye on that bubble level though, and adjust as you tighten. Of course, clean and use blue loctite/thread lock on the bolts that go into the frame. The last thing you want is this thing rattling loose on a ride and hurling itself into your rear wheel. Nylock nuts are used to fasten the chainstay arms to the rack.
The only nitpick is that it's not made of chro-moly and the finish is kind of thin, but then again I didn't pay for a tubus or old man mountain rack either.

By David A. Palmer
This is the second one of these racks I have owned. They have proven to be sturdy and durable in daily bicycle commuting use. I like the side hanger rails which allow me to comfortably mount my computer case pannier (an Arkel pannier) on the side and a Topeak MTX DX trunk bag on the top. I recommend this rack for cyclists that need a heavy-duty rack.
